Joe Canal's Presents Stack Wines!

New to the shelves at Joe Canal's Iselin and Lawrenceville locations is Stack Wines! Available in Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, Stack Wines are the perfect thing to throw in your beach bag or picnic basket! These wines are plastic wrapped individually portioned cups! Now you can enjoy great wines while relaxing in the sun or at the pool, without having to worry about breaking glassware, or remembering to bring a bottle opener!

Cabernet Sauvignon
As you plop down in a comfy chair, you reflect on that perfect day that is coming to a close. The aromas of blueberry and cedar from a morning hike, that succulent blackberry jam you had during breakfast with friends, the licorice and chocolate from a midday snack, or the mint you enjoyed to round out the end to that perfectly peppery dinner. Every note of the day was pitch-perfect - as is Stack Cabernet Sauvignon.

Chardonnay
The golden rays of the sun's last light glitter through the trees as you recline on a picnic blanket, rolling the final creamy bite of that fluffy lemon meringue pie around in your mouth, the perfect finish to the apple and almonds you just snacked on. Suddenly, a gentle breeze picks up and rustles the leaves as the oak grove around you fills your nose and you think to yourself, "I wonder if Paradise is getting jealous, right about now." Nope, it's just our Stack Chardonnay.

Pinot Grigio
Imagine those days when all you wanna do is lounge in the hammock while devouring a luscious plate of grapefruit and melon with a zest of lime. To have someone gently dab away the little dribbles of juice that roll down your chin with a crisp, linen napkin. Meanwhile, the scent of freshly cut grass wafts through the air as you leisurely swing to-and-fro in the breeze without a single care in the world. This is Stack Pinot Grigio, and it's just like that.

All three varieties now available for only $11.99!

Cooling off with Minty Fresh Cocktails

Here are some cooling mint drink recipes to cool you down on these hot summer days!

Mint Julep

One of the oldest cocktails of them all, this originated in the southern states of the USA, probably in the 18th century. It's the drink of tradition at the Kentucky Derby, the first Saturday in May, and is an incomparably refreshing mixture that has deservedly become a classic.

-1 tbsp superfine sugar
-8 - 10 fresh mint leaves
-1 tbsp hot water
-crushed ice
-3 tbsp bourbon

Place the sugar in a mortar or bar glass. Tear the mint leaves into small pieces and add them to the sugar. Bruise them with a pestle or use a muddler to release their flavor and color. Add the hot water and grind well together. Spoon into a highball glass and half-fill with crushed ice. Add the bourbon.

Stir until the outside of the glass has frosted. Allow to stand for a couple minutes, until the ice melts slightly and dilutes the drink.

Mojito

There are several theories behind the origin of the name Mojito; one such theory holds that name relates to mojo, a Cuban seasoning made from lime and used to flavour dishes. Another theory is that the name Mojito is simply a derivative of mojadito, Spanish for "a little wet", or simply the diminutive of "mojado" (wet). Whatever theory you subscribe to, the Mojito will cool you down on hot summer days!

-1/2 teaspoon confectioners' sugar
-1/2 lime, juiced
-2 sprigs fresh mint
-crushed ice
-2 fluid ounces white rum
-4 fluid ounces carbonated water

In a highball glass, stir together the confectioners' sugar and lime juice. Bruise the mint leaves of one of the sprigs and drop into glass. Fill glass with crushed ice and pour in rum. Pour in carbonated water to fill the glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

Joe Canal's Now Carries Brooklyn Brine/Dogfish Head Pickles!

Inspired by an a-ha moment, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and Brooklyn Brine have collaborated on a first-of-its-kind culinary leap of taste: the Hop-Pickle.

The all-natural, earthy Hop-Pickle is made with Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, caramelized onions and Cascade hops and is packaged by hand in Brooklyn Brine's small artisanal kitchen.

"One day last fall, I was sitting there having a 60 Minute and some Brooklyn Brine pickles while reading the newspaper," says Dogfish Head President and Founder Sam Calagione. "When I tried them together, that earthy bitterness that both share was magnified. I thought it was perfect, and within a week, I called Brooklyn Brine."

Brooklyn Brine/DFH Hop Pickles are available in both our Woodbridge and Lawrenceville locations for only $7.99! Try some today!
