Fresh Beers Are Flowing

Our craft beer departments are happy to share this week's new beers and returning favorites with you!  These have just been delivered, but please call the stores to verify availability if you're making a special trip out, as things move fast!

Boulder Shake Chocolate Porter
Our twist on the traditional robust American Porter, Shake Chocolate Porter is dark black in color with rich, sweet aromatics and flavors of dark chocolate, coffee and caramel. This unique brew blends five different grains, including Chocolate Wheat, that along with cacao nibs create a devilishly delicious chocolate finish with a velvety mouthfeel. 5.9% ABV.  This is available in both our Lawrenceville and Woodbridge locations.

Founders PC Pils
Pleasantly crisp, perfectly clean and profoundly crushable, PC Pils is our take on the classic Pilsner style. While Noble hops have been the preferred choice of Pilsner brewers around the world, we went with some of our favorite American varieties. Piney Chinook, pleasantly citrus Cascade and punchy Centennial make this an easy-drinker with floral hop characteristics. Pretty cool, if you ask us.  5.5% ABV.  This is available in both our Lawrenceville and Woodbridge locations.

Schlafly Tasmanian IPA
Our Tasmanian IPA is brewed with 100% Australian hops. The Tasmanian hop, Galaxy, is a strong, aromatic variety that is different from traditional strains of the Pacific Northwest. Our brewers developed a recipe that showcases the hop’s unique flavors of citrus and pineapple. 7.2% ABV.  This is available in both our Lawrenceville and Woodbridge locations.

Two Evil Geyser Gose
Two Roads and Evil Twin sourced local ingredients during a trip to Iceland for this collaboration including: Icelandic moss, rye, herbs, sea kelp, skyr (Icelandic yogurt) and birch-smoked sea salt to create a Two + Evil twist on a gose beer; a sour wheat-style ale with a hint of smoke, light lemon color, dry finish and thirst quenching appeal.  5.5% ABV.  This is available in both our Lawrenceville and Woodbridge locations.

Point Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale
Handcrafted using real pumpkin and savory pumpkin pie spices with hints of all natural cinnamon and nutmeg.  Perle hops balance with rich Munich, Roasted, and Caramel malts for the full-bodied taste and exceptional flavor.  This is available in both our Lawrenceville and Woodbridge locations.

Two Evil Pachmama Porter
Introducing the 2nd ‘Two Evil’ brew from Two Roads Brewing & Evil Twin Brewing. This Peruvian Style Porter was created following a trek in Peru. Using local ingredients like sweet potato, purple mais, and Aji panca chili peppers, a test batch was brewed at Cerveceria Barbarian in the Capitol city of Lima. The result is this unique brew with earthy spice notes, a hint of chili, and the deep brown colour of a classic porter. Since our ingredients were provided by Mother Earth, we decided to pay tribute and call our beer for Pachamama, the earth mother of Incan mythology. 6.5% ABV.  This is ONLY available in our Lawrenceville Location.

Lancaster Milk Stout
Still the best, we’re proud to present America’s original craft milk stout, brewed by Lancaster since 1995. Notes of coffee, milk chocolate and roasted malt goodness play counterpoint to mild hop notes and a subtle sweetness from the addition of milk sugar… you can’t go wrong with our award-winning Lancaster Milk Stout.  5% ABV.  This is ONLY available in our Lawrenceville Location.

Rogue Beard Beer
There are bizarre beers out there. Beers made with chili peppers, beers brewed to taste like pizza, and other interesting concoctions. Then there’s Beard Beer. No it’s not a joke, the beer is brewed with yeast extracted from Rogue’s Brewmaster’s glorious beard. While it sounds insane (and, frankly, it is) brewers have used wild yeasts for quite some time (think of those sour beers you’ve enjoyed in the past). The result, a sweet American wild ale that is quite tasty. John Maier started growing his beard in 1983 (over 15,000 brews ago) and finally has the recognition and honor it deserves: Beard Beer. Are you man enough to try it?  4.8% ABV.  This is ONLY available in our Woodbridge Location.

New Brews Abound at Lawrenceville!

While the staff at Woodbridge is focusing on their 10th Anniversary Celebration this week, the Beer Department at Lawrenceville is hopping!  Stop by and check out what's new, as well as some returning favorites!  As always, if you're looking for something in particular, give us a call ahead to make sure what you want is still in stock, as many items are limited and sell out quickly.  Here are just a few that our Lawrenceville location has got in stock:

Clown Shoes Whammy Bar IPA
Soulful tunes and good beer touch the best part of us here at Clownh Shoes. Whammy Bar is brewed in a West Coast style, dry hopped with Galaxy, Ella, Mosaic and Columbus hops, then balanced with song from a cast of characters that composes our orchestral team. We encourage those of you who drink this beer to listen to the music that you love most.  7.5% ABV

Great Lakes Nosferatu Imperial Red Ale
Don’t be afraid of things that go hop in the night! Rich roasted malt flavors haunt the shadows of our Imperial Red Ale’s bitter teeth.  Ruby red in color with a toasty malt body lurking beneath a stunning hop bite.  8% ABV

Baxter Stowaway IPA
Baxter’s flagship Stowaway India Pale Ale put Maine on the IPA map in 2011 and there’s been no looking back. Double-dry-hopped with close to 500 pounds of hops per batch, Stowaway’s bitter character is of course enticing for any veteran hop head. BUT, the solid malt backbone makes this beer approachable enough and drinkable enough for any beer drinker to tackle, even with its don’t-mess-with-me 7% ABV.  To top it all off, after a long, full three weeks in the tanks, this full-bodied beer has a dry, crisp finish virtually unheard of in the style category.  It’s no wonder Stowaway is the best-selling Maine Made IPA in the northeast! 6.9% ABV

Bear Republic Big Bear Black Stout
Big Bear is a big, black, stout you can really sink your teeth into. The bold, roasty, caramel malt flavor is balanced by Centennial and Cascade hops. 8.1%$ ABV

Green Flash Passion Fruit Kicker
We’ve kicked it up a notch by adding a tropical twist to this refreshing ale. Get amped on Passion Fruit Kicker—a jaw-dropping, mouth-watering, smooth brew with sweet, tart, fruity flavor. We layer passion fruit tea and passion fruit juice with wheat malt and 2-row malted barley to bring you this exhilarating crowd pleaser. Your palate will do a 360 for more of this luscious wheat ale. Appearance—Hazy pale yellow with white beer foam. Aroma—Passion fruit pungency and fruit Belgian yeast esters similar to bubblegum. Flavor—Flavor has a prominent sweet tart passion fruit character that mingles with the Belgian fruit bowl esters. Note: This is different than the previous beer under this name which was a higher gravity ipa with brett blended with a wine barrel aged beer. 5.5% ABV

Lagunitas Stoopid Wit
This UNFILTERED Belgian-ish Wit-ly-esque-ish-ness brew features a dry twang of hoppy bitterness and is perfect for the summertime drinking!  6.3% ABV

Bronx Brewing No Resolutions Double IPA
If you are looking for a beer to satisfy your New Year’s resolution, make no mistake - this isn’t it. The brew brings hop aromas and bitterness in a big way - a variety of hops create a spectrum of aromas ranging from citrus, pine, musky, tropical fruit to lemon grass. With a 7.6% ABV and a heavy hop guarantee this is the ideal beer for those who go No Resolution. Cheers!

New Brew Roundup

Here are some newly delivered beers, both new to the market and returning favorites, that are available in both our Woodbridge and Lawrenceville locations.  As always, our Craft Beer departments are super busy, so if you're looking for something specific please be sure to call ahead to make sure it hasn't sold out.

Weyerbacher Sunday Mole Stout
As the name suggests, this 11.3% ABV American Imperial Stout is the foundation of everyone’s favorite, Sunday Morning Stout, with a twist (and without the barrel aging)… This brew captures everything you’d expect from a traditional molĂ© – coffee, chocolate, heat and smokiness. Foremost is coffee, which is followed by layers of chocolate courtesy of the chocolate malt, cocoa powder and cacao nibs. Finally, a subtle lingering heat and smokiness from our blend of ancho, pasilla, mulato and chipotle peppers, as well as cinnamon, which is gone by the time you’re ready for your next sip.  11.3% ABV

Founders Pale Joe
Light in color but full in flavor, this golden ale features notes of gently roasted, fruit-forward coffee. Pale Joe features a special blend of high-end Ethiopian coffee expertly roasted by our hometown neighbors at Ferris Coffee and Nut. It’s the lovechild of your favorite iced coffee and, well, beer. 5.3% ABV

Founders Breakfast Stout
The coffee lover’s consummate beer. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and imported chocolates, and two types of coffee, this stout has an intense fresh-roasted java nose topped with a frothy, cinnamon-colored head that goes forever. 8.3%

Avery Chai High
American Brown Ale with local, fair trade, organic chai. 5% ABV

Avery Rumpkin
We wondered what would happen if a monstrous pumpkin ale, plump full of spicy gourdiness, were aged in fine fresh rum barrels to add suggestions of delicate oak and candied molasses. Rumpkin is what happens! 18% ABV

Avery Pumpkin
Bourbon barrel-aged pumpkin porter, spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves, and aged in fresh Bourbon barrels for 6 months. 17.22 ABV
We wondered what would happen if a monstrous pumpkin ale, plump full of spicy gourdiness, were aged in fine fresh rum barrels to add suggestions of delicate oak and candied molasses. Rumpkin is what happens! - See more at: https://www.averybrewing.com/beers/rumpkin#sthash.92dr1UxV.dpuf

Fall Swing Ahead with New Seasonal Craft Beers

If you're thirsty for new and exciting craft beers, look no further!  Here's just a small sampling of what's new in our stores.

21st Amendment Marooned Oyster Stout
Exhausted by the tedious work and rancid beer, deck swabs O’Sullivan and Freccia abandoned Sir Francis Drake’s Galleon. Days later, they washed up on a tiny island in Tomales Bay, where they encountered local oyster farmers John and Terry. Soon, these beer mutineers and oyster mercenaries were feasting on roast pig, fresh oysters and goblets of the captain’s finest ale. They could think of worse fates than being MAROONED ON HOG ISLAND.  Marooned on Hog Island is our Collaboration beer with the Hog Island Oyster Company. A rich and chewy stout brewed with Hog Island Sweetwater oyster shells for a silky, salty finish. 7.9% ABV

Abita Brewing Harvest Peach Lager
Fresh Louisiana peaches are handpicked for this smooth lager. Pale malt gives the beer a sweet, crisp taste, with abundant amounts of ripe, juicy peaches added in the brewhouse to capture the flavors and aromas of real, fresh fruit. All our Harvest Series brews are made with the finest Louisiana-grown ingredients.  4.5% ABV

Left Hand Oktoberfest
This is no festivus for the restuvus – on the contrary – we start brewing in the Spring and it takes a full two months to reach lagered perfection. Biscuity, malty goodness dominates upfront while the noble pedigree hops lend a properly spicy, dry finish. Zicke zacke, zicke zacke, hoi, hoi, hoi. Time to roast your chicken and upend your stein before the air gets crisp, the leaves flame and fall and the skies fade to black. Auf geht’s!  6.6% ABV

Neshaminy Creek Punkless Dunkel Pumpkin Wheat AleYou may know this beer by it’s previous name, Punkel Dunkel Pumpkin Wheat Ale.  It’s also been called a lot of other names as well: Pumpkin Dunkel, Pumpkinweizen, etc.  Whatever you’ve called it in the past, we know that regardless of what it’s called, this is one of the most popular, if not the most popular seasonal beer we make.  When we set out to create what we hoped was a unique pumpkin beer we decided to brew an imperial version of our Dunks Ferry Dunkelweizen, but in an unabashedly American way by adding pumpkin to the mash and your favorite pumpkin pie spices to the kettle. We add dark brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice to the boil as well to pair with the banana esters and spicy clove imparted by the yeast during fermentation. At 8.8% ABV it’s no slouch either. Always released after Labor Day, Punkless Dunkel doesn’t last long as the crisp Autumn nights make way to Winter just around the corner.  Do the seasons even change in Texas? 8.8% ABV

Sweetwater Hash Brown
Oh me oh my… what did we do?  We fired up the skillet to 420°, tossed in a sizzling concoction of 2-row, Wheat, Pale Chocolate, Cara-Brown and Midnight Wheat, then added in a hefty dose of hop hash and other dank-ish-ish-ish fixin’s to scatter, smother and cover this baby all the way.  Resiny, citrusy hops spice up the rich chocolate and caramel notes the malt brought to the mix, making this platter slide down the counter at 60 IBU’s.  6.2% ABV  (This is only in our Lawrenceville Location currently.  Keep an eye out for its arrival in Woodbridge later this month!)

A Smorgasbord of Craft Beer Choices

Here are just a few of the new craft brews that have recently been delivered.  As always, please call ahead to make sure what you're looking for is still in stock if you're making a special trip to the store;  some of these are very limited and go very quickly!

Magic Hat Vamplifier Hoppy Red
An unstoppable anthem of Ale.  Summoned by a shift in seasons, the Vamplifier appears with devious deeds in mind. Baring its sonic sound waves, it swoops down and crashes into glasses, striking palates with a big hop bite.  Tastes are forever transformed, and the Vamplifier’s power increases with each sip while the sounds of soul-pleasing sighs fill the cooling skies.  This is currently only available at our Woodbridge location.

Flying Dog Heat Series Carolina Reaper Peach IPA
Most of our brewers are hot heads as well as hop heads, so they wanted to ensure each of the Heat Series beers came to the table with a different sensory experience. Oaked Chipotle Ale has a great savory and smoky quality to it with just the right amount of heat. Like any beer we brew with outside ingredients, it’s all about balance.   This recently-deemed “hottest pepper in the world” has a very slight sweetness that is met with fresh peach and bold juicy fruit hops. This is available at both Lawrenceville and Woodbridge.

Neshaminy Creek Dunks Ferry Dunkelweizen
We stay with the German wheat beer theme for our Fall seasonal, and much like it’s Summertime sister, Dunks Ferry Dunkelweizen has a unique banana and spicy clove character but this time paired with a chewy, bready (dare we say banana bread) malt backbone. Again, we hop this German wheat beer with Hallertau and Tettnanger hops. This is currently only available at our Lawrenceville location.

Weyerbacher Mellow Monks
This 4.5% ABV Belgian-style ale is a refreshing golden ale with notes of apple, pear and banana. Reminiscent of Merry Monks with a more sessionable ABV.  This is currently only available at our Lawrenceville location.
