A Night with Italian Wines

Thursdays the BottleBlog will feature an update on various exciting things going on at Joe Canal's: Reports of our travels, special event coverage, and more! Today Debbie Miller Nelson reports on our Collector's Taste of Italy event, held on September 30th in the Woodbridge store.

If you've never been to an event at our Woodbridge (Iselin) store, you've never seen the great space we have to host events. It's called our Liquid Learning Center and it's a space where we teach classes as well as host walk around tastings. We also welcome private events!

Last week we hosted a walk around event for "A Collector's Taste of Italy." As usual, LouCas restaurant in Edison sent over enough delicious food to feed an army. In addition to a full dinner, we opened about 20 wines from Italy totaling about $1,000!

Massimo Galvano, Kobrand's Italian Wine Specialist and born in Rome was our host. Since we had an intimate group of people, some of our guests requested a more guided tour of Italy and our Italian teacher was eager and up to the task!

For two hours, guests dined and sipped through Italy while Massimo told stories, provided information on all the wines and charmed everyone in the room. Some of the evening highlights included the Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2008 and the Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2007.

Check back often on jcanals.com to see a list of upcoming events. You won't want to miss the next one!

  1. I truly enjoyed sipping great wines from Italy! Though tasting 20 wines within two hours was a bit of a rush. Having said that, it was a great event.
