We've had a very exciting week at Joe Canal's Discount Liquor Outlets of Woodbridge and Lawrenceville! Earlier we reported on Apothic Winemaker Boyd Morrison's visit to Woodbridge. A very special guest also stopped by Lawrenceville this week, Marc Mondavi!
Marc signed bottles and spoke with customers and staff about his new Divining Rod wines. As a teenager Marc discovered he possessed an unexpected, mysterious talent - the ability to locate underground water using divining rods. The gift earned him the title "Water Witch" and enabled him to plant great vineyards throughout California.
Marc brought his divining rods with him in the store and even allowed a few lucky staff members to try them out!
Water Divination, or dowsing, traces its roots back to Europe in the 1500s. Dowsing has been used to find a variety of things - from precious metals to life sustaining water. It is the latter that has been employed successfully by farmers for hundreds of years and enabled countless generations to irrigate myriad crops crucial to our very existence.
