New Month, New Products

Even with the short work week, we have plenty of new products to discuss.

Bogle Phantom 2013. This is the newest vintage, due for delivery this week. Availability is limited, as usual. 39% Zinfandel, 38% Petite Sirah, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Phantom, Bogle’s mysterious apparition of ripe berry and relentless spice, returns to haunt wine lovers. Full of concentration and intensity, this wine will tease, tantalize and linger long after the last sip is gone.

Wild berries, black pepper and hints of juniper are framed by the influence of oak aging with baking spices with a hint of toasty vanilla. On the palate, the entry is explosive, supported by chewy, chalky tannins that will age this wine for decades. The lingering, complex finish leaves one in anticipation of the next sip. Welcome the winery ghost into your home again with this latest vintage...before it vanishes again.

Giffard Creme de Violette. To capture the violet’s light, floral bouquet, we create this brilliantly-hued liqueur using an infusion of violet petals and the steam distillation of violet leaves. Its vivid purple color holds up beautifully, giving cocktails like the Aviation their signature lavender tone.

Appearance: Deep, true violet
Aroma: Soft spring florals (violet and rose petals)
Tasting Notes: Light and floral. Bright acidity with a pure violet finish

Look also for the Giffard Pamplemousse Rose, a very smooth grapefruit liqueur.

Double Nickel Vienna Lager. The other lager. A malt forward lager comprised of Pilsner, Vienna, and Munich malts. The bready backbone of this beer is nicely balanced with German styles hops. A rich amber-brown pour and the subtle complexities of this beer make it a perfect variety for any occasion. 5.3% ABV, 20 IBU. This is a new brewery, located in Pennsauken. Currently available only in Lawrenceville.

Chateau Saint Ahon Haut-Medoc 2010. 90 points from Wine Enthusiast. Their review: "While this is certainly a structured wine, it also has generous, full and ripe fruit flavors of black plum and berry, plus firm tannins and acidity. Saint Ahon, in the southern part of the Haut-Médoc, is showing great promise with this wine."

Available for under $16 in the Bottle Club®, making this is our most inexpensive Haut-Medoc.

Ommegang Nirvana IPA. Kettle-hopped with Bravo, Simcoe, Centennial, Topaz, and Mosaic, dry-hopped with Centennial, Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo and clocks in at 6.5% ABV and 60 IBUs. The flavor
is hoppy, juicy and citrusy goodness – without harsh bitterness.

Innovation Manager Mike says the aromas of grapefruit, peach, pineapple and apricot are mouth-watering and the taste is a big citrus smack, rounded and juicy with tropical and floral notes and just a touch of honey malt sweetness. Currently available only at our Woodbridge location.
