Who Put Wine in a Pappy Barrel?

We'd rather think about some of our newest products, rather than dwell on the snow and cold. So here's to finding a happy place that's nice and warm.

Southern Belle Red Blend Vino de la Tierra de Murcia 2013. This delicious wine was created by Dan Philips (the owner of and the palate behind The Grateful Palate) when he convinced a cadre of winemakers to age some of their most promising juice in used whiskey barrels, sourced from Julian Van Winkle, proprietor of the Pappy Van Winkle Distillery in Kentucky. Southern Belle is a blend of old vine Syrah and Monastrell, aged in the same barrels used for Pappy Van Winkle 20 year Bourbon. Twenty years of Bourbon aging met up with 18 months of aging for the wine. The end result is simply wonderful. The used bourbon barrels impart an extra layer of spice, caramel, smokey notes, and vanilla into the wines and the result is stunning.

Evan Williams White Label is our signature 100 proof, Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon. To be labeled as Bottled-in-Bond, a spirit must be the product of one distillation season and one distiller at one distillery, bottled at 100 proof and aged for at least four years under U.S. government supervision.

Evan Williams White is bold and full-flavored, with all of the kick that you would expect from a 100 proof Bourbon without sacrificing any of the smoothness. Perfect in a classic cocktail, as well as neat or on the rocks.

On the nose, caramel with hints of vanilla, oak & barley. The palate is citrus on top of vanilla & black pepper, before the warm, long and dry finish. Limited availability, at $18.99.

Flying Fish Exit 18 Baltic Porter. This exceptionally complex beer starts with a rich chocolate and toffee nose, an initial sweetness on the tongue that then evolves into satisfying roast and licorice flavors in the finish. Pair with rich roasted meats, any chocolaty desserts, or earthy cheeses like Fontina.
