Joys of the Season

Many people really enjoy entertaining at this time of the year, so we're offering some fresh takes on seasonal cocktails.

Mexicocoa

1 tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch of chili powder
Pinch of cayenne pepper
3/4 cup almond milk (can substitute Carolans Irish Cream or milk)
Splash of agave nectar (can substitute honey or maple syrup)
1 oz. Patron Silver tequila
Paprika
Cinnamon stick

In a saucepan over low heat add the cocoa powder, cinnamon, chili powder and cayenne pepper. Toast until spices begin to release their aromas, about a couple of minutes. Using a small whisk or wooden spoon, slowly incorporate the almond milk. Raise the temperature to medium-high and bring to a slow simmer. Stir in the agave nectar and remove from the heat. Rim a mug by dipping into a saucer of water, blotting and dipping into saucer of paprika. Pour in tequila. Add hot cocoa mixture. Stir with a cinnamon stick and serve.

Cider Jack Cocktail

For each drink, shake 2 ounces Laird's Applejack, 1 ounce lemon juice and a splash of grenadine or simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Strain into an ice-filled glass. Top with Crispin Original Cider and serve with a cinnamon stick.

Christmas Punch

2 cups chilled pomegranate juice
1 cup chilled cranberry juice
8 ounces (1 cup) Tito's vodka
8 ounces (1 cup) Cointreau
1 cup chilled club soda
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (from 6 lemons)
1/2 cup Simple Syrup

Combine pomegranate and cranberry juice, vodka, Cointreau, club soda, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a punch bowl. Fill glasses with cranberries frozen in ice cubes, and serve. Garnish with lemon slices if desired.

These are great ways to create a festive mood. We'll have more tips throughout December!
