Old World, New Value

Over several generations, the Amadieu family is linked to Gigondas. The owner of 7 hectares (17 acres) near the village where vines and olive trees have already grown together for more than a century, patriarch Pierre Amadieu decided in 1929 to bottle his Gigondas. He is one of the first to print the name of the appellation on his bottles and, in 1932, wins a Gold Medal for his cuvee Clos de la Paillouse in the Agricultural Concours of Paris.
Since 1989, Pierre Amadieu (Grandson of the founder) is the head of the company, working with his uncle and aunt. An agricultural engineer (Agro Paris Tech) and oenologist, he keeps up the family estate and improves the wine quality with every vintage. He looks for an elegance, a length on the palate and a “Burgundy” freshness to his wines. Today, a careful parcel selection allows him to elaborate different cuvées of Gigondas which express each in their way their exceptional terroir.

The Vinsobres Les Piallats 2010 is from the northern-most Cru of the Southern Rhone Valley. The Grenache reaches an optimal maturity, while the Syrah develops an unusual freshness.

Wine Spectator rated this Rhone wine at 91 points, saying, "Vivid and pure, with a gorgeous violet edge guiding the sleek core of linzer torte, blackberry pâte de fruit and plum sauce. Then the floral edge checks back, while a graphite spine emerges steadily through the finish."

The release price of the Vinsobres Les Piallats 2010 was $20.00, and our regular price was $17.99. It's on sale in the Bottle Club® for only $13.96.
