Turn Cold Days and Nights into Hot Times

Since winter seems like it'll be around for a while (and we're not even asking the groundhog for another few weeks), we might as well settle in with some excellent cocktails.

Irish Coffee

4 oz strong, hot coffee
1 oz Jameson Irish whiskey
2 tsp brown sugar
1 oz whipped cream

Place the sugar in a mug or Irish Coffee glass and stir until dissolved. Add the Jameson and stir. Float the whipped cream and enjoy.

Hot Toddy

Old school. A classic cocktail.

1.5 oz Bacardi Silver rum
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 lemon
1 cup of hot water
1 tea bag

Heat the water to make the tea. Coat the bottom of a mug with honey. Add the Bacardi, plus the juice of the lemon. Pour the hot tea into the glass and stir. If desired, garnish with a lemon wheel.

Hot Buttered Rum

Another classic cocktail.

1 small slice of softened butter
1 tsp brown sugar
dash vanilla extract
2 oz Myers Dark Rum
Hot water
Spice to taste, using ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and/or allspice

Put the butter, brown sugar and spices at the bottom of a mug and muddle or mix well. Add the rum, then hot water to the top, and then stir. You can garnish with a cinnamon stick.
