Pink Ribbon Grab Bag

We all know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To help in the efforts against this horrible disease, Joe Canal's in Lawrenceville and Woodbridge will sell ribbons for a $1 donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. These paper ribbons will be on display in the store all month, and you can write a personal message on your ribbon. Ask any manager or cashier for details.

So it will be a rainy weekend, but it looks like the worst of the storm will not hit our area. We think that's a good reason to celebrate, so click here to see about this weekend's events, including the 2-day celebration of Oktoberfest at our Woodbridge store.

New Products

Stone® 20th Anniversary Encore Series 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale. In 2008, Stone Brewmasters Steve Wagner and Mitch Steele traveled to Belgium, where they enjoyed a number of hop-driven Belgian tripels, pale ales and IPAs—beers that had taken a cue from the U.S. craft brewing movement and inspired us in return.

Upon their return, they crafted Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale, the seventh beer in the 11-beer Stone Vertical Epic Ale series. Packed with floral, spicy essence from Belgian yeast plus plenty of hoppy New World character, it’s our West Coast take on hop-driven Belgian beers.

The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a strong Belgian-style IPA highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely and provides a refreshing finish!

Limited availability, in 22oz bottles.

Vampire Wine. A seasonal favorite returns. We are bringing in an assortment of Vampire Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Grigio in time for the start of the holiday season.

The Cabernet is full-bodied, with Blackberry and Dark Cherry aromas, with just the right amount of Oak flavor leading to a lingering finish. Classic, small-lot fermentations, followed by aging with Oak, gives full expression to the rich varietal flavors in this wine. The Merlot is smooth and medium-bodied with a fresh, black cherry aroma, and hints of herbal spices. Aged in oak, our merlot develops graceful fruit flavors in the cellar, complemented by subtle shadings of vanilla and toast from the oak. The Pinot Grigio offers flavors of Melon, citrus, and tropical fruits, accented with a pleasant floral note in this easy-drinking and lively wine full of youthful, refreshing acidity.

Terrapin Moo-Hoo, in cans. The Terrapin “Moo-Hoo” Chocolate Milk Stout proudly uses cocoa nibs and shells from Olive and Sinclair Chocolate Company to give this beer its great taste! An  appetizing cold weather treat this sweet stout is rich creamy and uniquely satisfying. Beer and Chocolate together they truly make one of life’s great indulgences. Enjoy with rich stews with a Moo-Hoo base, fall vegetable gratin with aged cheddar or braised chicken with a rich Oaxacan Mole sauce.

Moo-Hoo is a seasonal brew, and it will sell out quickly.
