Monday might be a Federal holiday, but Joe Canal's will be open as usual, from 9am-10pm.

This weekend preview is always a great time to bring together the assorted bits of information that accumulate on our desk and in our email basket over the previous few days. Nothing like cleaning up a mess before the weekend.

We are in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout October, we are selling pink ribbons for a $1 donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. These ribbons will be on display in our stores, and you can write a personal message on yours. Please help us support this important cause.

Ripped from the Headlines

Yes, this is normally the last item in our blog post, but we thought this was an interesting bit of timing. Previously, we've discussed the possible Prosecco shortage. This article, from June 9, 2015, fleshes that out in great detail. In brief, we're enjoying more Prosecco than ever before, and the 2014 harvest was nearly 10% smaller than the 2013 harvest. More demand and less supply can mean higher prices too.

This week brought news of a "harvest reserve". This should ease the supply pressure next year. For now, supplies might remain tight.

At Joe Canal's, however, we've worked closely with our suppliers to make sure that you would be protected from supply shortages and price increases. Glengyle Kilkerran "Work In Progress" Release #7 Bourbon Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky. That title is enough of a mouthful, but the whisky is better.

Really special nose of roasted grains, subtle smoke, coastal salt and a panoply of spices that evolve over time. Very persistent on the palate, with a sweetness and smokiness that live in delicate balance. Those well-integrated flavors leap from glass to nose to mouth. Cask strength, but easy to enjoy without neat. Rich texture with a long finish. No added color, and non-chill filtered.
