Did You See The Latest?

The latest deliveries, that is. Our deliveries are usually completed before 10am, so there are no issues with the heat. Here are notes on newly arrived, or about to arrive, products.

Chateau Roc Saint Michel

This St. Emilion Grand Cru is 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernets (the property produces about 16% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Cabernet Franc). It's a fresh and fruity wine, with pleasant woody sensations. Pair this with small game, red and white meats, soft and fermented cheeses.

Only $25.96 in the Bottle Club®.

Lamborn Zinfandel

This is a personal favorite, as I stumbled upon it at a tasting room in downtown Napa a couple of years ago. Star winemaker Heidi Barrett is behind this project. And our price is considerably lower than what I paid in Napa.

"Deep black cherry and raspberry in color with focused aromas of rich and opulent Howell Mountain fruit. On the nose you are greeted with heaps of jammy raspberry, currant, and cherry fruit, perfectly complemented by the Lamborn Vineyard’s characteristic black pepper and spice component, all pulled together with hints of toast and vanilla. The flavors do not deviate from the aromas, and the overall effect on the palate is one of rich, ripe fruit and an overall silky mouthfeel.  Structurally significant but not overtly aggressive, the finish has slight warmth and great length. A classic and beautiful Lamborn Zin!" - Heidi Barrett, winemaker.

Only $39.99 in the Bottle Club®.

Stone The Crows Cabernet Sauvignon

Here's another star winemaker at work: Thomas Brown. How good is this wine? 95 points from Wine Enthusiast. Their review: "After a great inaugural 2010 vintage, this is another impressive Cabernet from this winery."

"The vineyard is in the Pritchard Hill area, and the wine is 98% Cabernet with 2% Petit Verdot.  It's a lush wine that's rich in black currant, cocoa and plum flavors, enhanced by smoky oak.  The wine shows enormous complexity, with layers of minerals and dried herbs that are hard to describe. It has a long life ahead of it, so drink now–2022, at least."

And the winemaker says, "One of the most aromatic wines I make, the 2011 Stone the Crows is very reminiscent of the 2010 version that we all loved so much."

"As I write this note, the room is filled with hints of blackberry, lifted red fruit and crushed rock.  The entry of the wine has a generous amount of upfront red and blue fruit, rounded and virtually seamless.  That initial generosity is quickly surrounded by very fine, but prominent tannin that gives the wine wonderful texture at this early stage.  The best days for this wine are still a few years ahead of it, however a generous amount of airtime will allow for drinking pleasure at any point during its development. Drink 2015 - 2030."

Very limited availability, at $82.99 in the Bottle Club®.

Vina Tabali Limari Valley Chardonnay Reserva

This wine should arrive within the next couple of days. Here are the winemaker notes: "Burgundian in style, TabalĂ's Chardonnay has long been one of our favorite Chilean whites. This is another example of the positive effect Limari's limestone soil has on the region's wines. Cooling breezes from the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean provide the grapes with a balanced acidity you rarely see in Chilean Chardonnay. The wine is fermented and aged in a combination on new and used French Oak, and bottled after 10 months."

Then there's this, from Wine Spectator: "Well-concentrated, with a good balance between the fruit and spice flavors. Apple, pear and snap pea details dominate, delivering a zesty mouthfeel. Light and creamy on the finish..."

Available at $13.99.
