Bright and Shiny and New

Some people love the new car smell, but we prefer the look and feel of new products in our stores. Here's a review of some of the newest products that we've received.

River Horse Summer Blonde

It's officially summer. Well, according to the craft beer calendar, it is. We'll discuss more of summer beers next week, but we're featuring a local favorite today. River Horse Brewery is located in Mercer County, and has grown into one of New Jersey's premier craft producers. Summer Blonde is a light, refreshing Ale that is easy to drink yet complex.  Perfect for the warmer months, which have to get here soon, right?
90+ Cellars

We've carried wines from 90+ Cellars previously, but we're adding to and expanding our offerings.

  • Lot 2 Sauvignon Blanc: The nose is exuberant citrus fruits with ripe melon and guava with some underlying herbal and classic gooseberry notes. Fresh, sweet fruit and crisp acid gives balance and an elegant structure with a smooth finish, a classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
  • Lot 23 Old Vine Malbec: Deep ruby-purple color. The wine boasts exquisite aromas of black berries, ripe plum and robust spices. It is well balanced with ample structure and mild tannins. In the finish, more dark fruit flavors and hints of wood smoke emerge to leave an elegant and lasting impression. From the Mendoza, Argentina region.
  • Lot 42 Pinot Grigio: Golden yellow in color with ripe apple, pear, and apricot aromas hovering above notes of wild flowers and honey. Medium bodied with a generous smack of minerality, this wine is perfect with pasta primavera, grilled seafood, or sliced prosciutto, asiago, and fresh crusty bread. From Trentino, Italy.
  • Lot 75 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir: Pensively purple in color and alluringly scented with marvelous aromas of juicy black cherry fruit, cocoa and ginger backed by lurking notes of cardamom and violets. The wine's flavors are boldly expressive and distinctly stacked upon one another as if they were painted by Rothko.
  • Lot 94 Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Napa Valley, California: Deep crimson in color with lavish aromas of black currant, mocha, and savory herbs with trailing notes of tobacco and vanilla. Full and well rounded with soft edges and a lively dose of bright cherry fruit that unfolds into a smooth finish. Buy one to enjoy now and another to cellar away for a decade or more...if you can resist the temptation to open it sooner.

Here's the kind of value represented by the 90+ Cellars label. The Lot 94 Cabernet has a source price of $50. 90+ Cellars price for the wine is $24.99. Our Bottle Club® price is $19.96. These wines are available in Woodbridge only, for now. Coming soon to Lawrenceville. Don't miss the tasting of 90+ Cellars wines on Friday, April 3, from 4-6pm in Woodbridge, and Friday, April 24, 4-6pm in Lawrenceville.

2010 Argiano Brunello di Montalcino

"An unforgiving and powerfully structured wine with fabulous grilled meat and granite stone character with dried berry and flower petal. Full body, chewy and intense. Great structure and extremely long and intense. Sexy austerity. Gets the juices going. Best ever from here. Reminds me of the great Argianos of the 1970s but now! Better in 2017 or 2018." James Suckling, 98 points.

"Aged for 24 months in oak, the gorgeous 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is a brooding, dark wine with great aromatic purity. The fruit tones are rich and penetrating, spanning from plum, prune and cassis to spice cake, tar and black licorice. The wine's concentration is luscious and opulent. The oak element imparts lasting aromas of spice, toast and caramel but the wine already shows a good degree of integration that should help it continue its bottle evolution. Hold this wine until 2017." Wine Advocate, 95 points.

Available in limited quantities in both stores for $49.99 in the Bottle Club®.
