Summer Beer Here!

Since today is National Beer Day, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to talk about summer beer in this blog post.

Your blogger is one of those people who prefers summer over the other seasons. Being able to sit outside, in the daylight, until 8 or 9pm, while sipping a cold beer is a great pleasures. We've talked before about how beer seasons don't really align with the calendar seasons, so we have the summer brews in stock already, with more arriving regularly. Because seasonal brews are only available for a limited time, as always, we recommend shopping early.

Below are a few of our fresh, in-stock summer beers and ales, in no particular order, except that we might as well start here at home in New Jersey.

Flying Fish Farmhouse Summer Ale

A tribute to the highly drinkable "every day" beers from French-speaking Belgium. Contains Belgian two-row pale malt and 7% wheat. This beer is lightly filtered with an earthy, spicy hop character from imported Styrian Goldings hops and a beautiful rich creamy head from the wheat. Pair with spicy foods, fish, salads, and anything you can put on the grill. Also makes a great marinade.

River Horse Summer Blonde

A light, refreshing Ale that is easy to drink yet complex. Perfect for the warmer months.

Harpoon Summer Beer

Harpoon's version of the traditional German Kölsch-style ale. This beer, which is light and refreshing, appears to resemble a lager rather than an ale. The Kölsch style is a testimony to the broad spectrum of characteristics an ale can produce, as well as the brewer’s art. The body is soft and delicate with a dry, crisp finish. Available in 6-pack bottles and 12-pack cans.

Aroma: lightly sweet, faint wheat

Taste: crisp, lemon-y, some bitterness

Samuel Adams Porch Rocker

Tart & refreshing, this unique summer quencher is our twist on the Bavarian Radler, named for cyclists that originated this drink.  Traditionally a mixture of beer and lemonade, for our take we combined the crispness of a golden Helles lager with a blend of lemons to create a fresh squeezed tangy taste perfect for the long yet fleeting days of summer.

Anchor Summer ® Beer

The crisp, clean flavors of Anchor Summer ® Beer are refreshingly light, a thirst-quenching American-style filtered wheat beer.

Released each year in advance of the summer season, Anchor Summer ® Beer is an all-malt craft beer, with over 50% of its malt derived from malted wheat. It is fermented with a traditional top-fermenting "ale" yeast, yielding a clean, balanced flavor that highlights the refreshingly light flavor of malted wheat. The head is unusually abundant due to the natural protein deposits of wheat, with a thick consistency similar to meringue.

First brewed in the summer of 1984, Anchor Summer ® Beer is the first American wheat beer in modern times. Anchor Summer ® Beer is intended to be a lighter beer for those who don’t want to sacrifice historic tradition or character.

Leinenkugel’s® Summer Shandy®

A shandy is beer mixed with a little something extra like soda, juice or ginger ale. Leinenkugel’s® Summer Shandy® is a traditional weiss beer with refreshing natural lemonade flavor that makes it perfect for the sun-splashed summer months.

Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat

The beer with more name changes than a professional athlete, today Blue Moon® Summer Honey Wheat is crafted with clover honey and orange peel for a refreshing taste that makes the most of sun-soaked days.

                              Yuengling Summer Wheat

Hallertau hops and Bavarian-style top-fermenting yeast deliver a thick, creamy head with overtones of banana and clove esters. This authentic German weizen style beer, with a slight hazy appearance, concludes with a crisp finish.
