Monday New Brew Review

Whether you're looking for a craft beer or a national brand, a freshly-poured Growler or a fun import, a cider, beer or ale, Joe Canal's has what you're looking for. In this space last week, we ran through some of our new Summer Seasonal beers. Today, we'll look at some limited-availability beers that are currently in stock (subject to changes in availability).

Green Flash Silva Stout

"Silva Stout took a lot of patience. We aged our Double Stout in oak bourbon barrels for seventeen months. Flavors are very complex. It starts off with dark chocolate truffles rolled in cocoa powder. Next is the vanilla and wood notes, with rich cherry-like fruitiness. After racking and filtering the ale, we blended in just the right amount of freshly brewed Double Stout to provide the perfect balance of bourbon barrel aging and freshness. Enjoy the culmination of years of flavor development now – no further aging required!" - Brewery notes.

Flying Dog Earl Grey Black Wheat

A brewhouse rarity. Give this bad boy a whirl with a traditional English cream tea (scones, whipped cream and jam). Afternoon delight, indeed. 6.3% ABV. Made with Midnight Wheat and Honey Malts.

Stone Imperial Russian Stout

Stone Imperial Russian Stout is so thick, rich and, well, sinful, you might worry that you'll be doomed to the fiery pits just for thinking about a sip. Rest assured, however, that even though this seemingly pernicious brew is indeed as black as sin, we guarantee that no actual sin was committed in making it...you'll have to add that on your own. This massive and intensely aromatic beer abounds with notes of chocolate, coffee, black currants, anise and roastiness, and its heavy palate is nothing to be trifled with.

                                         Stone Chai-Spiced Imperial Russian Stout

This one-time-only beer, a fascinating addition to our “Odd Beers for Odd Years” series, incorporates cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ginger, a dash of black pepper and a dose of black tea to emulate the aroma and taste of authentic chai tea. Combine these strikingly piquant ingredients with the classic version of Stone Imperial Russian Stout―with its incumbent flavors of chocolate, black currants, coffee and roastiness―and an already profoundly rewarding beer ascends to new, flavorful dimensions.
